Haley M.
Private tutor in Georgetown, TX
Education
In high school, I studied all the required courses, but English language and literature and Spanish language really inspired me to pursue a higher education degree. I went to Loyola University of Chicago to get my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature in 2013. Immediately after graduating, I moved to Spain to begin working as an ESL assistant teacher in primary and secondary schools, and an English language tutor in my free time. I was lucky enough to enroll in a Masters program at the University of Saragossa in Spain to pursue further studies of the Spanish Language and Literature.
Experience
Before leaving for Spain, I took a 60 hour TEFL certification course to learn the basics of teaching a foreign language. After my two years being an English tutor in Spain and putting what I learned into practice with my students, apply my knowledge to teaching Spanish as a foreign language in the USA. I think a foreign language is so much more than grammar and vocabulary, and sometimes opening a student's eyes to opportunities a foreign language presents can change their perspective of the language.
